The next element to look at was a special weapon which figures heavily in the film script...an ancient weapon with mystical powers. It was a long process to get to the drawing above, and there are several important visual elements involved. Among them are the four cartouches embossed in the guard wings, and the central diamond design where the guard wings intersect the main shaft.

We felt it was important within the context of the script and style of the weaponry that there be an iconic symbol for each of the "monsters" as well as a symbol for the Sai Weapon itself. I came up with these 5 symbols (above left), and then incorporated them into the design of the weapon itself (above right a section of one of the desktop graphics done for the film website).
