THE HISTORY CHANNEL: 10th Anniversary Promos - Page 2
<PREVIOUS PAGE | TOP OF PAGE | NEXT PAGE>
The second Anniversary promo was based on the story of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Cleopatra. It was actually a funny bit with Cleopatra in Antony's arms as Caesar pulls the curtain aside. The dialog is all a send-up of soap operas:

CLEOPATRA: Caesar!
CAESAR: Cleopatra!
ANTONY: Caesar!
CAESAR: Antony!

Anyway, Rick Butler asked me to do two views of the scene, with a flowing, romantic boudoir of sorts in front of a temple in the desert, with the pyramids in the distance.
There was no readily rentable Egyptian backdrop to be had, so I designed one. I found a painting by Karl von Eckenbrecker that everyone liked for composition and color (shown below), but I needed to do new artwork in order to eliminate the people and animals, and to have a high enough resolution to have the drop printed. The final artwork is shown at the bottom of the page.
