BACKDROP DESIGN: Annie Get Your Gun
For several years I worked with a backdrop rental company in Kansas, They have a pretty extensive catalog of drops for Broadway shows, ballet, dance programs, and special events.
They would give me a show to design, and I would come up with a number of backdrop designs. The idea was to make them as rich as possible so the school or theatre company didn't have to build a lot of scenery or use a lot of dressing.
The first set of drops I'm showing here are for ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. There were several other drops designed, but these were the three designs I felt were the most successful.
At top is the deck of a Cattleboat, with New York harbor in the background.
Next is the ballroom of the Brevoort Hotel in New York, and finally the design for the show curtain.
